rA/Upture_2 conference

For the second time, the rA/Upture thematic conference will be held on the launch of Xenotopia, this time at OFF-Biennale Budapest 2021. Organized in collaboration with the Vienna-based artist group adO/Aptive, the day-long symposium aims to create a fruitful dialogue between contemporary art practices and contemporary speculative philosophical and social science discourses. The double meaning of the title outlines a specific conference format that aims to provide a space for the joy of reflection (rapture) alongside the 'rupture' of established discourses and perspectives In the English-language lectures, invited speakers will explore three concepts to answer questions such as whether we have alternative patterns of mapping the future to the progressive vision of modernism, or whether planetary consciousness is possible beyond the apparent tensions between global and local maps.
