On the Same Page - OFF-Editorial Practice - Public editorial meeting #1

At the first public editorial meeting we will talk about the interrelation of artistic freedom and free speech based on relevant books, texts and artworks. In an artistic context what kind of questions are raised by free speech, who is entitled to speak and about what? What does all this mean and have meant in different historical periods and how does all this relate to the current political establishment of certain countries?

On the Same Page - OFF-Editorial Practice

On the Same Page is a common-knowledge sharing platform of the organizers and participants of OFF-Biennale. Its mission is to create a collectively edited publication through a flexible and shared workflow that inspires collective thinking. The title of the project reflects on the common publishing surface (online and offline) we have established, as well as on the editorial mission that emphasizes the links between the individual projects of this year’s OFF and our associations.

In the course of the editorial practice (referring to OFF 2021’s title and central theme of Inhale!), the publication aims to capture the air that flows between the various projects, to amplify and render the perceivable common resonance.

For the duration of the 2021 OFF-Biennale, we will hold 4 public (online) editorial meetings where we will discuss, read aloud, turn the pages of publications, talk about artworks together with OFF participants, invited guests and documenta fifteen cooperation partners (members of the lumbung inter-local). With these collagelike contributions we connect to issues thematized in the 2021 OFF edition, such as self-organisation, emancipatory pedagogy, artistic freedom and ecological sustainability.

On the Same Page - OFF-Editorial Practice is a long-term project which is part of OFF-Biennale’s participation in documenta fifteen.
